Our fishing community are vital for the prosperity of our coastal communities. We need to support them and today I’ve voted in favour of more EU funding for our fishing communities in a vote in the European Parliament. Such funding can go to improve the fishers position in the supply chain and give support to develop the sector. More needs to be done but with my vote today, we did send a clear signal that we cannot cut funding from our fishing community at a time when it should be increased.
